Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best known for portraying Detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue and for which she earned an Emmy Award. Delaney was the sole child of an United Auto Workers executive and his wife, who was a housewife. Her upbringing was within a household with four other brothers. Following her move away from New York City and gaining experience as a commercial model at New York did she achieve the career as aspiring court reporters. She was cast as an innocent child in the 1981 soap-opera All My Children. Delaney an actress in her early years in the 80s, has been featured in a variety of TV films as well as dramas. Her professional career has been more successful than her private life. The accomplished actor has struggled with alcoholism as well as two failed marriages. In 2005, her custody was taken away from her.
